Just to recount some history for you, Janome America was founded in 1860 in Orange, MA, with the production of the New England Single Thread Hand Sewing Machine . Over the next 20 years, the New England machine and the Home Shuttle were their two most significant products. In 1882, the company reformed under the name New Home (a combination of the labels New England and Home Shuttle), and it continued to operate under that name for the better part of a century. In 1960, the New Home brand was purchased by the Janome Sewing Machine Company of Tokyo, Japan. We'll help you decide which program will allow you to do the things you want to do--AND we'll always include a free class so that you know how use your program.

Designer's Gallery Studio III has lots of awesome new features, including a layout function. It allows you to catalog all of your embroidery designs, sort colors instantly, accomplish many other color editing tasks, and covert designs from one embroidery format to another. Studio III is available as an upgrade to Studio or as a new program.

LetterWorks III is now a stand-alone program. It has over 150 professionally digitized fonts (including 30 Baby Lock exclusive font styles). A wide variety of new functions have been added, including text on path lettering, a decor function (44 decorative frames), underlay choices, new stitch effects (applique, trapunto, spiral) and much more! You can create text alone or combine it with an embroidery design.

SizeWorks is a tool pack that easily and effectively resizes designs proportionately and applies the correct density adjustment. You can reduce size by 50% and enlarge designs up to 200% in one quick operation.

COMPARING DIGITIZING PROGRAMS
An interesting trend is developing with our various embroidery software programs. The companies are standardizing their programs so that we can offer you a basic version of the program as well as a full version. The features of the basic programs differ slightly from company to company. Palette Petite and Digitizer Jr. allow editing and layout adjustments to made with stitch files (such as rotating, mirroring, combining designs, and creating text. Digitizer Jr. will allow more freedom with re-sizing because it re-calculates stitches while Petite doesn't. Both programs offer autodigitizing, which means the program can quickly assign stitches to your graphic file. CustomWorks can perform almost any editing/layout task on a stitch file, including deleting part of a design, adding a color stop, sorting colors, adding borders, and cutting holes in objects, plus much more, but it has no digitizing capabilities. MasterWorks can very effectively accomplish many basic digitizing tasks for you, but is quite limited in what it can do with existing stitch files. Petite, Jr., and Lite are all upgradable to full versions of the program , which add more layout and editing capabilities as well as many additional digitizing tools. The best way to determine which program is best for you is to decide what kinds of things you want to accomplish as you create your embroidery projects.
